The family wanted wildlife, good food and walks that did not turn the holiday into an endurance test. We removed the west-coast circuit and kept three nights at one forest lodge.
The skeleton
- Two nights in Hobart with a private architecture and produce day
- Three nights at one lodge; each morning’s walk chosen after breakfast
- One east-coast move, luggage going ahead
- A final lunch built with an oyster grower, gardener and private chef
What was left out
No same-day return to Bruny Island, no attempt to reach Cradle Mountain and Freycinet in one line, and no restaurant booking immediately after a four-hour drive. The exclusions made the journey feel larger.
This is the skeleton of a journey that happened exactly once. Yours will begin from a blank page.
