New Zealand

Fiordland side arms, high-country stations and the Catlins coast — with weather room built in and fewer one-night stops.

Go farther by moving less

New Zealand rewards time, but not constant driving. We build around two or three bases, then use private guides, small boats or a scenic flight only where they genuinely open the landscape.

Places we like to join carefully

  • Doubtful Sound by a small overnight vessel rather than a day-return coach
  • Glenorchy and the Rees Valley with a private naturalist and a weather alternative
  • The Catlins coast, timed around tides, wildlife and the long return north
  • High-country stations where the stay is part of the journey, not just a bed

Weather-sensitive experiences are never stacked back-to-back. A good route has somewhere worthwhile to be when the clouds stay low.
