Why we do not plan around photo spots
A photograph is the receipt of a journey, not the journey.
Sometimes a traveller asks: will this route get me that famous shot? Our answer is usually yes — but first we want to ask whether you want the photograph, or the morning on which it is taken.

The trouble with photo spots is not the crowds; it is that they turn travel into a checklist. The photograph is a receipt — proof of attendance. The text is everything that will not fit in a frame: the damp of the mountain path, the hunger before an inn dinner, the dialect phrase you could not parse but somehow understood.
Our itineraries are full of beautiful, photogenic places. The difference is only this: we secure the text first. The receipts follow on their own.
