One river, two countries, no capital race

An alpine-to-Adriatic route built around a river, two family cellars and one unhurried border crossing.

The travellers had already seen Europe’s major cities. They wanted to understand one landscape as it changed from alpine water to limestone and vineyards.

The skeleton

  • Ljubljana for arrival only, then three nights in the Soča Valley
  • Walking distance chosen each morning with the same local guide
  • Two nights in Goriška Brda, with two cellars rather than six tastings
  • One private border transfer to an inland Istrian stone village

The thread

Each host was asked the same question: how does water shape what happens here? The river, wine hills, olive groves and final coastal meal became one story instead of four attractions.

This is the skeleton of a journey that happened exactly once. Yours will begin from a blank page.
