Onsen etiquette, without the anxiety
The reason behind a rule is worth more than the rule itself.
Before a first ryokan stay, many travellers worry: bathing order, how to wear the yukata, when dinner is served. Behind every rule sits a single logic — this is one house, shared by everyone in it.
Only three things to remember
Rinse before entering the bath; keep your towel out of the water; fix your dinner hour in advance and keep it. Everything else can be gotten wrong without offence — the inn has seen every possible mistake.
We explain all of this before check-in, and more importantly we explain the why. Once you know the reasons, the rules stop being a burden. They become the house’s way of inviting you in.
