The route
Spend two nights in Hobart, then slow down for three nights at one highland or forest lodge. Continue east only once, ending with vineyards, a marine reserve and a table built around what is in season.
Not a lap of the island
Tasmania looks small on a map, but narrow roads and worthwhile stops make hurried circuits tiring. This route deliberately leaves the west or far north for another journey.
The final plan changes with produce calendars, lodge access and the walking ability of the group.
