Seeing Mt Fuji is entirely a matter of hour and position. What we book is not a ticket — it is the early morning.
The skeleton
- Day 1 — Leave Tokyo, reach Lake Kawaguchi by afternoon; an inn on the north shore, room facing the mountain
- Day 2 — Before sunrise, to the spot where locals watch the mountain; cherry blossoms and the lake by day; onsen at night
- Day 3 — Half a day cycling at Lake Yamanaka; a tea room through the tour-bus hours
- Day 4 — One last look at dawn, then back to Tokyo
House rules of this journey
Bad weather shifts the whole plan by a day (the inn is booked with slack). No crowded viewpoints.
This is the skeleton of a journey that happened exactly once. Yours will begin from a blank page.
